Why they might be annoying:

They were once known as UK Squeeze so that they would not be confused with the American band Tight Squeeze.
They went through many line-up changes.
Like Hall and Oates, Tilbrook sings on the majority of the songs while Difford sings on but a few.
They only had two songs that charted in the U.S. (‘Tempted’ (#49) and ‘Hourglass’ (#18)).
‘Tempted’ was sung by neither Difford nor Tilbrook (It was sung by Paul Carrack), and it was used on a Burger King commercial.
They recorded a phone number song (‘853-5937’, 1987).
During the band’s first breakup, Difford and Tilbrook recorded the largely ignored album (‘Difford and Tilbrook’) while Gilson Lavis worked as a cab driver.
By the 90’s on, the band was mostly Difford and Tilbrook along with a slew of other musicians.

Why they might not be annoying:

Difford and Tilbrook were very prolific songwriters.
Even though Difford and Tilbrook are dubbed as the Lennon-McCartney of the 80’s, their partnership is genuine because Tilbrook writes the music while Difford writes the lyrics.
During the band’s first breakup, Difford and Tilbrook had no intention of breaking up their collaboration.
‘East Side Story’ was produced by Elvis Costello.
‘Tempted’ is presently being played on the radio that features 80’s revival music stations.
The video for ‘Hourglass’ featured the band in very cool optical illusion tricks (Among others: Tillbrook going through door after door until the door gets smaller and smaller; Tillbrook approaches to the phone only to find out that the phone was as big as he is).
It paved the way for other artists such as Blur and Supergrass.
