Appeared in the videos 'This Is Spinal Tap' and 'Return of Spinal Tap'
Not really a rock band, merely contrived by actors for a movie

Why they might be annoying:

They were known as The Originals, but had to change their name because there was already a group by that name.
Ronnie Pudding left the band to form the band Pudding People.
They titled their Japanese live album 'Jap Habit.'
'Intravenus de Milo' was the first album ever to reach the status of Bronze, meaning one million copies of the record were returned.
They had problems with their record label, Megaphone Records, citing that they were owed back royalties. Megaphone counter sued claiming they had a 'lack of talent.'
'Shark Sandwich' received a two-word review: 'Shit Sandwich.'
Their 1982 tour was plagued with cancellations due to lack of ticket sales.
Their manager Jeanine Pettibone, who was David's girl friend, was their version of Yoko Ono. She caused many fights within the band and even caused Nigel to quit the band.

Why they might not be annoying:

They recorded the first ever 'Black Album.'
They allowed themselves to be filmed for the documentary 'This Is Spinal Tap,' which was directed by Marty DiBergi.
After breaking up in 1983, David and Jeanine founded a soccer clinic, Nigel retired to his home in London and began an inventing career, and Derek joined Christian metal band Lamb's Blood.
They wound up reuniting for one year to release the album 'Break Like the Wind' which featured appearances by Slash, Cher and guitar-virtuoso Joe Satriani. After the release of the album, they embarked on a tour that took them through the U.S., U.K. and 'some of Asia.'
They appeared in an episode of The Simpsons.
Their impact on rock and roll is immeasurable.
