Why he might be annoying:

He took land away from Native Americans (Indians).
He won a contract to supply the militia (1791), but due to an agreement dispute, he closed his business (1792).
The same year Kentucky named Boone County in his honor, Mason County issued a warrant for his arrest due to debts (1798).

Why he might not be annoying:

He is considered one of the greatest pioneers and hunters in America.
He explored and helped settle Kentucky and Missouri.
His daughter, Jemima, and two other girls were captured by the Shawnee Tribe.
Two days later, in a surprise attack, he rescued all three girls (1776).
He negotiated a peace settlement with Chief Blackfish of the Shawnees (1778).
He said: 'I explored from the love of nature, I've opened the way for others to make fortunes, but a fortune for myself was not what I was after.'
