Why he might be annoying:

His professional goal was to provide a logical foundation on which arithmetic could stand.
When Bertrand Russell pointed out a paradox (later known as Russell's paradox, which asks whether a set of all sets who are not members of themselves is a member of itself) in Frege's foundations, Frege's system was ruined.
After his wife died and he learned of the paradox, he almost completely quit writing, making almost no attempt to defend his theories.
After World War I, he became opposed to both socialism and democracy.
He was an anti-Semite.
He considered himself to be a genius and was bitter about the lack of recognition that he received in his lifetime.

Why he might not be annoying:

He single-handedly invented the majority of modern logic independent and prior to Bertrand Russell and Alfred North Whitehead, but his work was lost to obscurity and was not known until Bertrand Russell and Ludwig Wittgenstein rediscovered his work and introduced it to the philosophical community.
He also developed the methodology of analytic philosophy prior to Bertrand Russell and G. E. Moore.
He debated Ludwig Wittgenstein and Wittgenstein was quoted afterwards as saying, that Frege had 'Wiped the floor [with me]' (1911).
He was one of the greatest mathematicians of his day.
He said: 'Every good mathematician is at least half a philosopher, and every good philosopher is at least half mathematician.'
