    He was a member of the Future Farmers of America and graduated with a degree in Agricultural Economics yet does not do farming.
    He panders to the religious right.
    He received a 100% voting record from the Christian Coalition.
    He strongly favors censorship, citing family values, and has been mentioned by Howard Stern as an enemy of free speech. He is lobbying for much higher F.C.C. fines for what he deems indecency.
    The NEA ranked his voting record at 27% on public education.
    Although he claims to be in favor of civil rights, the UCLA ranked him at 20% on civil rights issues.
    He opposed scientific advances in human cloning.
    He is 100% against abortion and received a 0 ranking from pro-choice group NARAL.
    He is in favor of allowing cell phone wiretapping (October 2001).
    He voted against background checks at gun shows (May 1999).
    He voted against allowing cheaper prescription drugs from Canada being made available to Americans.
    He voted against Medicare including prescription drugs (June 2000).
    He voted against stronger tobacco restrictions (June 1998).

    He favors increasing penalties for drug offenders (November 1999).

    Despite holding up the debate for Kansas senatorial candidates until the senate recessed, Brownback refused to commit to an October 24, 2004 debate.
    He calls his supporters 'Brownbackers.'

    He graduated Kansas State University and earned a law degree from the University of Kansas.
    He is very pro free trade.
    He strongly favors tax reforms.
    He favors the internet and voted for an Internet sales tax moratorium (October 1998).
