Why they might be annoying:

Both of their parents were ministers.
Their mother loved June best and made a point of letting them know.
They were only allowed to sing gospel songs when growing up.
They are deeply religious and pray every time they go on stage.
To find fame, they went to Houston, Texas, but ran out of money. They called their mom for help but she said she would only send enough to bring June home (1969).
They attended a party in their honor and were told to go through the back door, thinking they were the maids.
The members abused alcohol and drugs.
June has referred to them as 'the Grandmothers of Rock 'n' Roll!'
They dressed as men for the video 'Dare Me.'
Bonnie left the group in 1978.
Anita and Ruth threw June out of the group citing she missed a number of appearances due to substance abuse. They legally barred her from the group and took control of the name Pointer Sisters.
    Ruth's daughter Issa replaced June.
They cancelled their 2003 'Here and Now' concert tour citing world tensions.
Bet you didn't know they have two brothers, Aaron and Fritz.

Why they might not be annoying:

Bonnie formed the Pointers-A Pair as a duo with sister June. When Anita joined it was renamed the Pointer Sisters.
Their parents practiced corporal punishment when they were caught singing songs from the radio.
They performed on 'We Are The World.'
They had a country hit 'Chain of Fools' with Clint Black which was nominated for CMA's Best Song of the Year.
They were the first black female group to perform at the Grand Ole Opry.
Most of the Grand Ole Opry audience were unaware they were black until they saw them.
They have a large gay following and have performed at AIDS benefits.
They recorded 'Santa Claus Is Coming To Town' for a Special Olympics album.
They performed for the troops during the Persian Gulf war (1991).
They performed at the Olympic closing ceremonies in Atlanta Georgia (1996).
