Why they might be annoying:

Their followers claimed they were invulnerable to bullets and mines.
Luther allegedly had 250,000 invisible soldiers at his command, while Johnny had a mere 150,000.
Their visible, flesh-and-blood followers totaled 200 at their peak.
God's Army has been called a Christian terrorist group.
They belonged to an ascetic sect that abstained from sex, alcohol, milk, eggs and pork.
They are chain smokers.

Why they might not be annoying:

They are members of an ethnic group (Karen) and religion (Christian) that are both repressed by the Burmese government.
The hospital takeover was driven by the need to get medical attention for the group's wounded.
They surrendered to Thai forces (2001) and repudiated the stories about being invulnerable.
