    She lost an attempt at the Gold when the U.S. boycotted the 1980 Olympics.
    She helped convinced the African Nations not to boycott the 1984 Olympics in the U.S. when South African Zola Budd competed for England.
    She successfully fought to get more women sports added to the Olympics.
    She was selected #56 by Sports Illustrated for Women's Century's Greatest Sportswomen.
