Why he might be annoying:

It has been said that he got the nickname 'Boom Boom' from his tough boxing style, but his father, a boxer also nicknamed 'Boom Boom,' hung the moniker on him.
After he went to Kim's funeral, he fell into a deep depression.
Years afterward he had no idea how to react when people approached and asked him if he was the boxer who 'killed' Duk-Koo Kim.
After losing his WBA title to Livingstone Bramble he needed 71 stitches to close a gash over his eye (June 1, 1984).
He is the owner of the El Campeon Cigar Company.
He was the analyst of the extremely pointless 'Celebrity Boxing' series.

Why he might not be annoying:

Before his bout with Frias, at training camp, three gunmen went looking for him at his hotel. Told he wasn't there, they never came back, and he finished training for the fight with police surveillance.
After the Kim tragedy, which lasted 14 rounds, studies were carried out revealing most boxers receive the most punishment after round 12. Soon after the finding, all title fights were shortened from 15 to 12 rounds.
When he lost his bid to regain his title in a slugfest against Bramble, he yelled to referee Mills Lane the now famous line, 'If you stop it, I'll kill ya!' (February 15, 1985).
Warren Zevon wrote a song titled 'Boom Boom Mancini.'
He is very accessiable to fans, freely signing autographs and posing for pictures.
