Why they might be annoying:

They didn't have enough material for their debut album with Motown, so they recorded a 21 minute cover version of the Temptations 'Get Ready.'
Radio stations refused to play it, so they trimmed it down to 3 minutes.
They wanted to record more of their own compositions, but Motown kept giving them music to record.
Once Motown relinquished, their career went south.
Stevie Wonder was called in and played 2 songs with them, but the collaboration sounded bad and the songs were not released.
Motown dumped them after 10 years, yet they still tour on the oldies circuit.
Bridges is the last original member left in the group.
'I Just Want to Celebrate' was used in a major national ad campaign by Ford Motors.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were the first white group signed by Motown records.
They are the most successful white group in Motown history.
They've had 4 songs make Top 20 on Billboard charts.
Many artists sample their songs in recordings, such as Beck, N.W.A., Eric B. & Rakim, Peanut Butter Wolf and Scarface.
