Why he might be annoying:

    He turned down an appointment to West Point to attend Notre Dame.
    Notre Dame head coach Frank Leahy recommended Lujack as his replacement, but Theodore Hesburgh, president of the university, chose Terry Brennan instead (1954).
    He was a color commentator for CBS, but, because he owned a Chevrolet dealership, he was replaced by Pat Summerall when Ford became a sponsor (1962).

Why he might not be annoying:

    In high school, he lettered in four sports (football, baseball, basketball, and track), and was senior class president and valedictorian.
    He was the third student at Notre Dame to letter in four sports (the same four he lettered in during high school).
    His time at Notre Dame was interrupted by serving in the Navy on a submarine hunter in the English Channel.
    He was twice a unanimous All-American (194647).
    He led the NFL in both passing touchdowns (1949) and rushing touchdowns (1950).
    He has been married to Pat Schierbrock for over 70 years.
