Why he might be annoying:

    Because of his height (6'7), Hammer Films considered casting him as the monster in 'The Curse of Frankenstein' (1959), before going with 6'5 Christopher Lee.
    He was typecast in films as a well-meaning bumbler.
    His catchphrase was 'I only arsked,' in a heavy Cockney accent.
    He appeared in a series of ads for British Telecom in the 1980s.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He received a scholarship to RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts), where he won the Emile Littler Award for most promising actor.
    He went to great lengths to prepare for roles, such as learning genuine Swahili phrases to use in 'Carry On Up The Jungle.'
    After leaving the 'Carry On' series, he concentrated on the theater, performing with the Young Vic, the National Theatre, and the Royal Shakespeare Company.
    He served as president of the Grand Order of Water Rats, the oldest theatrical fraternity in the world.
