Why he might be annoying:

He was a member of the Trotskyite Workers' League.
He was turned down for the slot in Peter, Paul and Mary that eventually went to Noel Paul Stookey.
He refused to fly and never learned to drive, so he would recruit other musicians to drive him to shows.
During the Stonewall Riots, he was arrested for assaulting a police officer (1969).

Why he might not be annoying:

He served as mentor to a couple of generations of folksingers, from Bob Dylan to Suzanne Vega.
He said about folk purists who criticized Dylan for going electric, 'Forty years later, Bobby is still out there making music and they're all dentists.'
Janis Ian said, 'He was a song encyclopedia and a great raconteur.'
He was left-handed (although he played guitar right-handed).
