He took guitar lessons because he was a big fan of KISS, and wanted to imitate Gene Simmons.
He was an alcoholic.
He was a drug addict, who continued doing drugs after his friend Andrew Wood died of a heroin overdose.
One of his bands was named after a basketball player, and another after The Rockford Files.
He is a vegetarian.
He appeared as a member of Matt Dillon's back-up band in the film ‘Singles.'

He formed his first band while in the eight grade.
He is against high ticket prices for concerts.
He was influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughan, and added some Stevie-style blues solos to Pearl Jam's music.
He never plays the same solo twice.
He has Crohn's disease.
