Why he might be annoying:

He was obese. Although some argue he was not in reality, just obese in his statues.
At 29, he abandoned his family for spiritual pursuits.
He renounced the world when he was 29.
He practiced Yogic practices and breathing controls for six years.
He tried starving himself and then realized this was not the right path.
He sat under a tree meditating for death or enlightenment.
When he felt his enlightenment brought him Nirvana (liberation) he danced for a full week.
He felt that since he had no teacher, and he reached enlightenment, he must be the holy one.
He then preached as Lord Buddha.

Why he might not be annoying:

His mother Maya died a week after his birth, he was raised by his aunt Mahaprajapati.
He was persuasive and argued, debated and convinced others to become his disciples.
He said that trying to think of the origins of the world or nature of God is useless and a waste of time.
It was reported the Buddha had done some miracles including turning himself into fire, have a tree bend towards him, firewood split at his command and walking on water.
