    Born in Skellftehamm, Sweden
    Swedish author and reporter most well known for his 'Millennium Trilogy' featuring the mysterious secret agent Lisbeth Sander
    Novels in the Millennium Trilogy included: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2005), The Girl who Played with Fire (2006), and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (2010)
    Real name: Karl Stig-Erland Larsson

Why he might be annoying:

    When he was 14, he watched a group of his friends gang-rape a girl and did nothing to help.
    He left his estate to the Communist Party; however, the will was not witnessed which led to an ongoing legal battle between the communists, his father and brother, and his girlfriend.
    The original titles of his first and second Millennium novels were Men who Hate Women and The Air Castle that Was Blown Up.
    The Millennium Trilogy was not discovered until well after his death and are believed to be the first three parts of a planned ten part series of novels.

Why he might not be annoying:

    The shock of his witnessing the rape led him to spend the rest of his life fighting against violence against women.
    He bravely investigated and reported on right wing extremism in his country.
    He couldn't marry his girlfriend because under Swedish law, they would have to make their address public which would endanger their lives because of his reporting on hate groups.
    His Lisbeth Sander is one of the most unique creations in all of literary history and won him a buttload of awards.
    His Millennium Trilogy has sold over fifty million copies worldwide and have been made into well received film trilogies both in Sweden and the USA.
    He died tragically of cancer at age fifty.
    A life long science fiction fan, he started his writing career editing sci-fi fanzines.
