As farmers, they raised tobacco.

Why they might not be annoying:

Chang married Adelaide Yates and Eng married her sister, Sarah, in North Carolina.
They had 22 children among them.
Eng died 2½ hours after Chang died of a blood clot.
They turned their handicap into an advantage.
Conjoined twins are still referred to as Siamese Twins because of them (They were born in Siam (Thailand)).
If they were born in modern times they could have been easily separated.
They were originally fishermen, and when they retired, they became farmers.
