Why Congo, Democratic Republic of (Zaire) might be annoying:

    King Kokodo ruled for three years after his death. They waited to see if he would decide to stay dead or come back to life.
    Belgian King Leopold II called Congo his private possession (1906) and then sold it to his own country, Belgium (1908).
    Months after they declared their independence, the UN investigated and criticizes Belgium's Congo policy. Belgium then threatened to quit the UN (November 14, 1960).
    Most of the population dies off before their fiftieth birthday.
    Two months after changing its name to the Republic of the Congo, its neighbor took the same name.
    President Mobuto, wanting the nation to return to its African heritage, banned neckties and non-african names.
    Their borders are not perfectly defined.
    Very few people have phones and their phone system is primitive.
    They produce cannabis, but mostly for their own consumption.
    US President Eisenhower allegedly ordered the assassination of Congo's Prime Minister Lumumba (January 17, 1961).
    Its uranium was used in the early atomic bomb.

Why Congo, Democratic Republic of (Zaire) might not be annoying:

    When it became independent, it was the richest black country in Africa.
    They accepted refugees from many of their bordering countries.
    They have well over 200 different ethnic groups.
    Many European auto manufactures set up assembly lines here.
