Why he might be annoying:

    He ghostwrote songs for such artists as Justin Bieber and Brandy.
    As a member of Odd Future, he aligns himself with members who are more provocative in their material than he is.
    He got in trouble with The Eagles for sampling 'Hotel California' on one of his songs without permission.
    Shortly after he started college at the University of New Orleans, Hurricane Katrina hit. He was planning to return after temporarily moving to Los Angeles, but by then he was caught up in his music career and stayed there.
    He had a tattoo that he eventually removed.

Why he might not be annoying:

    In July 2012 he wrote on his tumblr blog that he had feelings towards another man several years earlier, in effect coming out of the closet. This was something an R&B star is not usually known for.
    His announcement garnered support from people such as Beyonce, Jay-Z and Russell Simmons.
    His breakthrough mixtape, 'Nostalgia, Ultra,' was released for free, while still being named with other traditional releases for year-end best of lists for 2011.
    When 'Channel Orange' came out, it not only received high praise, but in addition certain fans were tweeting every single lyric from the album.
    'Pyramids' included a guitar solo from John Mayer, who also performed the song with him on 'Saturday Night Live.'
    He is known for showing an extensive amount of detail in his songs.
