    He was a vegetarian.
    His name was Aristocles, but his nickname was 'Platon' (meaning 'broad') for his broad shoulders.
    He tutored King Dionysius II.
    His interests lied in moral philosophy and thought of science (natural philosophy) as being unworthy inferior knowledge.
    He posted a sign at the entrance to his academy, 'Let no one ignorant of mathematics enter here.'

    Socrates, became his mentor in 409 B.C., and was devastated by his execution (399 B.C.)
    He founded a school that is considered to be the first university.
