The Resume

    (September 23, 1910-October 27, 1990)
Born in New York City, New York
Son of Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Eleanor Roosevelt
Reconnaissance pilot during World War II
Left the service as a Brigadier General (1945)
    Mayor of Miami Beach (1965-67)
Wrote biographies of his parents and a series of mystery novels featuring Eleanor as a sleuth

Why he might be annoying:

He was allowed to become a military pilot despite having eyesight so bad that he was unable to have a civilian pilot license and had been classified 4-F.
He recommended that the Army Air Force award a contract to build reconnaissance planes to Howard Hughes -- despite Lockheed being father along in development of a better plane -- after a Hughes employee, John Meyer, arranged a series of dates between Elliott and rising starlets at Hollywood nightspots, with Meyer picking up the tab.
When he fell in love with one of the starlets, Faye Emerson, Meyer paid for their wedding.
He was married five times, divorced four times.
He was one of the financial backers of a plot to assassinate Bahamian Prime Minister Lynden Pindling after Pindling refused to issue a casino license to an associate of Meyer Lansky (1968).
He ticked off his siblings by revealing the details of their parents' marriage, especially FDR's affairs with Lucy Mercer and Missy LeHand.
His mystery series continued after his death with ghostwriters cranking out new books under his name.

Why he might not be annoying:

Henry H. Arnold, head of the Army Air Force, insisted there had been no political pressure or nepotism behind Elliott receiving his commission.
He scouted locations for air bases in Labrador, Greenland, and West Africa.
He was a pioneer in nighttime aerial photography.
He received decorations for valor from the US, Great Britain, France, and Morocco.
