Why he might be annoying:

He intimidated journalists with gangs of thugs.
He fired the management of Venezuela's oil company, causing 1 million people to march to his office in defense of them.
In the ensuing riot between demonstrators and Chavez's supporters, 17 people were killed and 100 injured.
In 2002, a massive strike against Chavez paralyzed the country's oil industry.
He was divorced twice.
Most Venezuelans were still poor, despite his promises to improve their living standards.
Televangelist Pat Robertson called for his assassination (August 22, 2005).

Why he might not be annoying:

He raised a low minimum wage by 20%.
He liked to play baseball.
He passed laws designed to increase oil income.
His government replaced a corrupt one.
