Recorded the albums 'Long After Dark,' 'Southern Accents,' 'Let Me Up (I've Had Enough),' 'Into the Great Wide Open' and 'Echo'

Why he might be annoying:

He died by overdosing on black tar heroin.
Before his death he became depressed over the loss of his German Shepard.
He and Carlene Carter were arrested in Albuquerque, New Mexico for having 2.9 grams of black tar heroin and drug paraphernalia in a stolen vehicle (June 2001).
He was replaced by former Tom Petty bassist, Ron Blair a year before his death.

He played in Milwaukee rock and country bands that were regionally popular before joining Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
He has toured with Del Shannon.
He has been featured on songs for Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Stevie Nicks and Roy Orbison.
He produced John Prine's Grammy winning album 'The Missing Year.'
He produced two albums for him long time girlfriend Carlene Carter.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (2002).
