Baseball Player

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He refused the Astros contract offer, after they lowered their bonus due to his underlying shoulder issues.
He opted to re-enter the draft, rather then accept the contract offer.
His decision not to sign with the Astros had consequences for the team as they were unable to sign two of their other draft picks with the money allocated to them.
He was the first player since Tim Belcher not to sign a contract with the team that drafted him with the first overall pick.
He pitched a total of two games in 2019, opting to miss the 2018 and 2020 seasons altogether.
His stalled development and inability to crack a major league roster, despite his initial draft selection drew comparisons to the likes of Steve Chilcott, Brien Taylor and Mark Appel.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the third player to be selected first overall by the Astros in three consecutive years, behind Carlos Correa and Mark Appel.
He was a member of the U.S. National Team that won a Gold Medal at the 18U Baseball World Cup (2013).
He was considered a top prospect by baseball pundits.
He was the first left-handed pitcher from the high school ranks in over 40 years to be drafted first overall.
Prior to his arm issues, he threw a strong fastball in the high 90's.
