Why she might be annoying:

Her age was kept a secret until she died. Many had it listed as 1929, making her four years younger.
She wore an array of different colored and wildly styled wigs.
Her loud singing, scating nonsense words with a strong brass beat easily can produce a headache.
Her catch phrase was 'azúcar' (sugar). It seems she screamed out azúcar on stage for her coffee.
Even in death she was ornate, wearing different outfits for different viewings and being buried in a gold casket.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was one of the best loved salsa singers.
She was so admired that in death her casket was flown down to Miami so that her fans could pay tribute.
She suffered brain cancer, which led to her death at 77.
She is the namesake for the Celia Cruz Fundacion.
Gloria Estefan was a huge fan of hers.
She sought asylum in America after leaving Cuba, pretending to be on tour (July 15, 1960). Castro was so enraged that he refused to allow her back in Cuba to visit her parents when they were ailing.
President Clinton presented her the National Endowment for the Arts Award (1994).
She said: 'Salsa is Cuban music with another name. It's mambo, cha-cha-cha, rumba . . .'
She was married for over forty years to trumpeter Pedro Knight.
