Birth name is Jan Paul Beham
Member of the L.A. punk band The Germs
Recorded one album, 'Germs (GI)' and a handful of singles
Best-known songs include 'Forming,' 'Shutdown (Annihilation Man),' 'Lexicon Devil,' 'Manimal' and 'No God'

Why he might be annoying:

He originally went under the name Bobby Pyn.
He sometimes adopted near fascist-style uniforms for his stage costume.
He used heroin, even going as far as to leave the stage during some performances for a fix.
He was notoriously cavalier with his body in other ways too -- once he had to be rushed to the hospital after throwing himself on a stairway covered in broken beer bottles during a performance.
He lost the Germs a chance to be in Cheech and Chong's 'Up in Smoke' when he helped to instigate a food-fight during a performance to audition with other bands for a part (all of the other bands were put into the movie).
He recorded only one album.
He finally managed to get the Germs banned from all music clubs in Los Angeles through their antics.
He committed suicide by heroin overdose on December 7, 1980, just hours before John Lennon was shot.

Why he might not be annoying:

He wrote raw, powerful lyrics that captured emotions rather than ideas.
He was one of the leading members of the punk scene of the '70s.
He almost had Belinda Carlisle as a bandmate and played alongside Pat Smear, DJ Bonebrake and Don Bolles.
His performance in 'The Decline of Western Civilization' is one of the most powerful in that film.
Along with the rest of the Germs, he was recruited by director William Friedkin to do music for the Al Pacino film 'Cruising.'
During the Germs' ban, he boldly renamed the band GI (or Germs Incognito) to continue playing in LA.
