Why she might be annoying:

    She was distant from her parents.
    She rarely attended church but made her children go to Sunday school.
    Her books have been criticized for their simple vocabulary and style.
    Some libraries allegedly banned her books because of their mediocre writing.
    In the Noddy books, the villains are often golliwogs (black dolls).
    Despite her success as a juvenile writer, she did not particularly like children.

    She was criticized by her mother for being a bookworm.
    She argued that her books' limited vocabulary encouraged children to read.
    Killjoys fault her escapist stories for not being realistic enough.
    Some adults worry that Noddy and his sidekick Big Ears are gay.
