His nickname is 'Marky.'
He chose to wear #25, which is unorthodox for a goaltender number.
He was one of four players who left the Canucks during the 2020 off-season to sign with the Flames.
He didn't establish himself as the Canucks starting goaltender until his fifth season with the team.
It was speculated the Canucks let him walk as an unrestricted free agent, in order to potentially avoid losing Thatcher Demko a year later to the Seattle Kraken.

He was the youngest goaltender in the history of the Panthers franchise to play a game with the team, prior to Spencer Knight.
He was the key player acquired by the Canucks in the second Roberto Luongo trade.
He made his first All-Star game appearance in his last season with the Canucks (2020).
He tied Cory Schneider's Canucks franchise record for most saves recorded in a single game.
He proved he was capable of handling a full load, as he started the majority of the games for the Flames during the abbreviated 2020-21 season.
