Wrote the plays 'Mr. Pim Passes By,' 'The Dover Road' and 'The Truth About Bladys'

Why he might be annoying:

He smoked pipes.
Despite being a pacifist, he enlisted in the British army during World War I.
He preferred to be known as a 'humorist and playwright' instead of a children's writer.
His descendants allowed Disney to take his beloved Pooh character and utterly commercialize it.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was good friends with H.G. Wells.
He originally created Winnie the Pooh for bedtime stories for his son Christopher (from whom Christopher Robin was based).
He was said to be a gentle, kind man in real life.
A brain surgery in 1953 left him invalid.
He is one of the most beloved children's authors of all time.
