The Resume

    (March 5, 1917-October 27, 2010)
Birth name was Mary Emma Woodruff
    Teacher and school librarian
With her husband, Presbyterian minister Clyde Allison, organized the first Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF in Philadelphia (1950)

Why she might be annoying:

Money raised by Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF in the US peaked in the early 70s and has been steadily declining since then.
Canada dropped the door-to-door collecting part of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF due to safety concerns (2008).
Over the years, she has been responsible for children being guilt-tripped out of countless hours of prime candy-collecting time on Halloween.
She died four days short of the 60th anniversary of Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF.

Why she might not be annoying:

Before starting Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, she was involved in humanitarian aid for post-WWII refugees.
President Lyndon B. Johnson wrote, 'Your UNICEF Trick or Treat Day has helped turn a holiday too often marred by youthful vandalism into a program of basic training in world citizenship.'
By the time of her death, the program had raised over $160 million.
