Several of the films he directed were straight-to-video sequels (e.g. 'Flicka 2,' 'Marley & Me: The Puppy Years').
He recorded a version of the Saved by the Bell theme that was used for one season.
His webpage claims he had eight Top 40 hits; he actually had three.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was cast in 'The Young and Restless' after the producers saw him singing on 'American Bandstand.'
His cover of 'Rock On' topped the Billboard singles chart and went gold.
Original 'Rock On' singer David Essex said, 'When we met for the first time, he was very nervous. But once he realized I liked the way he did the song, we got on fine.'
