    Wrote classic children's books ‘Little Lord Fauntleroy (1886),' ‘A Little Princess (1905)' and ‘The Secret Garden (1909)'

Why he might be annoying:

    The many novels and plays she wrote for adults are long forgotten.
    ‘Little Lord Fauntleroy' made long curls, velvet suits and lace collars fashionable for little boys.
    She dabbled in spiritualism like many fashionable intellectuals of her time.
    Both of her marriages ended in divorce.
    Despite her great success as a writer, she suffered from depression.

    By age 18 she was supporting herself and her siblings with her writing.
    In 1888 she was instrumental in changing British copyright laws to protect American writers.
    Her second husband, also her business manager, may have blackmailed her into marrying him.
    Her oldest son died of tuberculosis in 1890.
    She attended the 1921 premiere of ‘Little Lord Fauntleroy,' starring Mary Pickford.
    Little Lord Fauntleroy was a childhood hero of Jacqueline Kennedy.
