Why he might be annoying:

He went to elementary school with Adolf Hitler.
He fought for Austria-Hungary during World War I.
The only work that he published in his lifetime was his Ph.D. thesis.
He told both Bertrand Russell and G.E. Moore that they were not intelligent enough to understand his dissertation.
On two different occasions he believed that he had ended philosophy by showing that traditional philosophical problems were meaningless.
After earning his Ph.D., he quit philosophy so he could teach elementary school.
He tried to teach the children logic and broke one girl's nose when she could not understand it.
He had an affair with one of his students for several years.
He is rumored to have tried to attack Karl Popper with a fireplace poker while Popper read a paper critical of Wittgenstein.

Why he might not be annoying:

Some consider him to be the greatest philosopher of the 20th century, and is undoubtedly one of the most influential.
He gave up two separate inheritances, each of which would have made him very wealthy.
Before he took up philosophy, he studied engineering and designed a new type of airplane propeller.
He designed a house for his sister.
He enjoyed American cowboy films since they lacked pretension.
He was able to admit that his previous work failed in its goal, and went back to work.
He spent World War II as a medical orderly in London.
He died of cancer.
