The Resume

    (1894-1908)
    Based in Kenora, Ontario, Canada
Originally known as the Rat Portage Thistles (1894-1905)
    Regular season champions (1902, 1904, 1906, 1907)
    Stanley Cup champions (1907)

Why Kenora Thistles might be annoying:

They primarily competed against Manitoba based teams, due to Kenora being too far from any of the Ontario based clubs.
Due to not having an owner or lack of support in the business community, it struggled financially.
An urban legend in the community states the senior league team quit, after being defeated by their junior counterparts.
They elected to forfeit the 1907–08 season, after suffering a 16-1 defeat, citing they couldn't compete at a high level anymore.
They folded after realizing they could not afford to run a professional franchise.
Their reign as Stanley Cup championship lasted two months, which is the shortest in the trophy's history.

Why Kenora Thistles might not be annoying:

They were primarily compromised of players from the Kenora area.
They were a community run franchise, who often organized benefit concerts and fundraisers to help with the operation costs.
They were a popular draw in the community of Kenora/Rat Portage.
They defeated the Montreal Wanderers in January, 1907 to win their lone Stanley Cup title.
They are the only franchise from one of the smallest North American communities to win a professional sporting championship (Yes, Kenora is smaller then Green Bay, Wisconsin).
Despite not being a professional franchise in over a century, the Thistles nickname has continued to be used by various minor and amateur teams in Kenora.
