The Resume

Best known as the voice of Judge Claude Frollo from Disney's 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame,' Megabyte from 'ReBoot,' and the Elder God/Mortanius from the 'Legacy of Kain' series
Acted in 'Twins,' 'Love and Death,' and 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me'

Provided voice work for The Magic Mirror and Frollo in the Walt Disney World fireworks show, 'Fantasmic'

Why he might be annoying:

His regal but grating baritone voice sounded genuinely creepy.
He called appearing in a Disney film 'a bid for immortality.'
He was an obscure Shakespearean stage actor who only found success in his later years by doing cartoon voiceovers.
He was typecast as prudish, humorless villains who often looked like they personified death.
His rendition of 'Hellfire' in Disney's 'Hunchback of Notre Dame' was deemed inappropriate for children by many parents (sexually insecure old man singing about his blasphemous lust for a younger woman and imagining her dancing nude in the fireplace? Can't imagine why!).
His portrayal of Frollo was so controversial that the character was deliberately kept out of the film's promotional material in later years.
By some strange coincidence, he appeared in live action versions of both the Beauty and the Beast and Superman and would go on to do voice work for Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' and WB's animated 'Superman' series.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
He began his career working for a Broadcasting Station in South Africa for 25 years.
He told Alan Menken that he felt he was vocally unfit to sing 'Hellfire' because he had to strain to hit some of the higher notes, but he was told that quality added to the emotion of the song brilliantly.
His association with a character the company probably wants to disown might be the reason he was not honored as a Disney Legend in his lifetime.
He has posthumously attained a newfound popularity among teenage stoners who YouTube 'Hellfire' out of amazement that Disney would ever attempt something so dark & risque.
He provided the voice for the much-talked about (but rarely seen) charlatan child psychologist, Dr. Lipschitz on Nickelodeon's 'Rugrats' series.
Most of his colleagues deemed it ironic that he was typecast as villains but came off as a genuinely nice guy for the most part.
He released a CD of himself reading the lyrics of Gershwin, Hammerstein, and Coward to music he had composed himself (2005).
He died months after having surgery to remove a cancerous tumor, likely from complications (2006).
