    He was a Taco Bell spokesperson.
    He got into a Twitter war with One Direction's Liam Payne over the star's support of Duck Dynasty.
    His fans criticized him for tweeting that not finding people of other races attractive is 'racist.'
    His channel's content has largely remained the same over the course of his ten plus year run on the platform.
    Even the opening to each of his videos have been consistently the same over his channel's run - 'Hey everyone! My name is Tyler Oakley!' (clever).
    He did a series of gauzy videos depicting him visiting his old high school - which included him waving from a motorcade to passersby like he were JFK.
    His popularity suffered when he began to act as a political schill - for instance, uploading a video two days before the 2016 Presidential election of himself with Hillary Clinton titled 'Meeting Future Madam President' (awkward).

    He was one of the first YouTube personalities whose content dealt with being openly gay.

    He competed along with his partner Korey Kuhl on the The Amazing Race, finishing 3rd (2015).
    He was named one of Time Magazine's 30 Most Influential People on the Internet (2015).
    He was named one of Forbes' 2017 30 under 30 (2017).
    He works with The Trevor Project, which is an organization for the prevention of suicide among LGBT youth.
    He was able to parlay his success on YouTube to stints working with the The Ellen Show and as a Red Carpet interviewer.
