Why Waco, Texas might be annoying:

    Over 10,000 residents, including the mayor and sheriff, attended the lynching of a black man in front of city hall (May 15, 1916).
    Downtown was hit by a tornado, killing 114 people (May 11, 1953).
    It was the site of the fatal standoff between the FBI and David Koresh and his followers (February 28-April 19, 1993).
    The local newspaper hired Ted Nugent to write an opinion column.

Why Waco, Texas might not be annoying:

    The soft drinks Dr. Pepper (1885) and Big Red (1937) were created there.
    The remains of two dozen mammoths were discovered at the junction of the Brazos and Bosque Rivers (1978).
    Air Force One landed at the local airport whenever George W. Bush vacationed at his ranch in nearby Crawford.
    WACO-FM is the only radio station whose call letters spell out the city it is located in.
