The Resume

    (August 29, 1965- )
Born in Redbridge, Essex, United Kingdom
Birth Name is Frances Jane Ruffell
Performed as Dinah in 'Starlight Express' and as Eponine in 'Les Miserables' in the original West End productions of both
Also played Eponine in the Broadway production of Les Misérables (1985)
Also acted in stage versions of 'Yonah in Children of Eden' (1991), 'Chicago' (2003-2007), 'Piaf' (2013) and 'Bella in The A to Z of Mrs. P' (2014)

Why she might be annoying:

    She is flamboyant.
Her voice has been described as both whiny and very squeaky, almost feline.
She had a cameo in the disappointing 'Les Miserables' movie as one of the prostitutes in the 'Lovely Ladies' number.
Cameron Mackintosh billed her character in the movie as 'the Most Fabulous Whore.'
She was part of the nepotism elevating her daughter, Eliza Doolittle, to stardom.
Her nickname for her daughter, subsequently her stage name, has led people to believe that her daughter ripped off Pygmalion.
Her style of dress has been criticized as inappropriate and 'too young for her age.'
She was knocked up by Les Mis co-director, John Caird, at 21 effectively stunting a lightning fast road to superstardom (she never reached the heights of her Les Mis fame again).
She separated from Caird after bearing their second child, and two years after their marriage.
She reportedly feuded with Caird, behind the scenes, during the Les Miserable 25th Anniversary Concert at the O2 in London in 2010.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She is petite.
She has a great, non-competitive relationship with her daughter, stating 'for a parent to see their child become so successful is amazing – I’m feeling very relaxed because she’s doing so well.'
She won a Tony for 'Les Miserables' (1987).
She made the role of Eponine her own in the original West End production of 'Les Miserables.'
Les Mis fans still widely regard her to be the ultimate Eponine, and her rendition of 'On My Own' to be the definitive version.
Her first solo album, 'Fragile,' reached number 25 in the UK Singles Chart (1994).
Her vocals were used in the early stages of planning for 'Miss Saigon.'
She regularly went shopping between Eponine's death scene and the curtain call during performances, even getting her navel pierced during one show.
One of her first major roles was playing the Narrator in Andrew Lloyd Webber's'Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat.'
She won the Theatre World Award, Helen Hayes Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for her work in 'Les Miserables'.
