The Resume

    (July 22, 1929-October 3, 1982)
Born in Manchester, England, United Kingdom
    Birth name was Ada Thompson
Appeared in the films 'Alfie' (1966), 'Accident' (1967), 'Under Milk Wood' (1972), 'Frenzy' (1972), 'The Homecoming' (1973) and 'The Maids' (1975)
Married to dramatist Harold Pinter (1956-80) and appeared in many of his plays

Why she might be annoying:

She made very few films because she hated having to do multiple takes.
When Pinter left her for Antonia Fraser, she cattily noted that although Pinter had left his shoes at their house, 'He can always wear some of Antonia's. She has big feet you know.'
She died of cirrhosis of the liver from heavy drinking.

Why she might not be annoying:

She financially supported Pinter until his writing career took off.
For a scene in 'Alfie' where Michael Caine slaps her, 'I was hit and hit all day long, until by the end of the afternoon my face was swollen out to here.'
She was nominated for an Oscar for 'Alfie' (1966) and a Tony for 'The Homecoming' (1967).
