Why he might be annoying:

    He introduced an amendment to ban same-sex marriage (2006).
    He voted against extending employment non-discrimination laws to cover sexual orientation and gender identity.
    He voted against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act.
    He voted against banning the sale of firearms to known and suspected terrorists (2016).
    He called the storming of the Capitol 'a dark moment in our country's history that must be reckoned with,' then voted against creating an independent commission to investigate the attack (2021).

Why he might not be annoying:

    As an optometrist, he volunteered his services at a clinic for low-income families.
    He authored several bills to improve benefits for veterans and their families.
    He introduced legislation to provide tax credits for teachers and principals working in schools located in low-income districts.
    The storming of the Capitol did convince him to change his mind and not object to certifying the results of the 2020 presidential election.
