When he was a boy, he specialized in playing old men in the Yiddish theater.
He was sometimes billed as 'Mr. Paul Muni.'
He refused to be in the film version of his stage success 'Counselor at Law' because he played a Jewish attorney in it and he did not want to be identified with Jewish roles.
He played a Chinese peasant in 'The Good Earth.'
