Why he might be annoying:

He converted to Roman Catholicism at the insistence of his wife.
This made him an outsider to the rest of the Germanic tribes in Western Europe (They were Arian Christians).
His conversion to Roman Catholicism laid the foundations of a political and spiritual relationship between the Pope and the Kings of Western Europe.
After his death, his kingdom was divided among his four sons.
The Franks remained divided until the end of the Merovingian Dynasty in 751 A.D.

Why he might not be annoying:

His conversion to Roman Catholicism strengthened his bonds with his subjects.
He destroyed Syagrius, the self-proclaimed King of Romans, to put an end to the last vestiges of the Roman Empire in Europe.
With the help of Clovis I and his successors, the Roman Catholic Church converted all Western Europe to Catholicism.
Since the Franks founded France, Clovis I is considered to be the first King of France.
