He had a huge nose.
The only known portrait of him has been described as 'bovine.'
He was fired from his job for remaining loyal to the crown during the rule of Oliver Cromwell.
The subject of many of his love poems, a woman named Julia, probably never existed.
He hated the country life.

He only became a minister because he needed the money.
