Why he might be annoying:

He committed 10 errors during the 1955 season.
Despite hitting a score tying home run in Game 7 of the 1958 World Series, the Braves went on to lose the game 6-2 and the series to the New York Yankees.
His shoulder problems sidelined him for most of the 1961 season.
He spent his final three years of his playing career as a backup.
He got ejected in the first inning of his first career game in the majors as a manager for arguing about balls and strikes.
His managing career was a disappointment.

Why he might not be annoying:

He served in the Korean War.
He smacked a home run in Game 7 that helped the Braves defeat the Yankees to win the 1957 World Series.
He smacked over 20 home runs a season three times (1954-1955, 1959).
He excelled in throwing out base runnners who attempted to steal a base.
He was the catcher during the no-hitters of Jim Wilson (June 12, 1954), Lew Burdette (August 18, 1960) and Warren Spahn (September 16, 1960).
He is one of the successful catchers from the NL in the 1950s and early 1960s.
He was on two Sports Illustrated magazine covers.
