Why Manhattan might be annoying:

    Although Manhattan should be easy to spell (Man, hat, tan), many mistakenly spell it Manhatten.
    Redundantly, it is New York (County) of New York (City) of New York (State).
    The Marble Hill section is attached to The Bronx, and not part of Manhattan Island.
    It is often targeted for terrorism.
    Thousands were killed here during the September 11th terrorist attack that destroyed the World Trade Center.
    Some of its restaurants are so expensive that a single small dinner party can cost as much as the average annual U.S. salary.
    It has a reputation of being fast paced and unfriendly.

    Manhattan was New York State's capital (1785-89).
    Manhattan was the first United States capital (1785-90).
    Manhattan housed the United Nations (1945- ).
    It is the home of Crystal Palace World's Fair (1853).
    One of America's most famous parks, Central Park, is found here (1856).
    One of the world's first elevated railroads operated in lower Manhattan (1867).
    Some of the better known sections are Harlem, Midtown, South Street Sea Port, Chinatown, Greenwich Village, Gramercy Park, Greenwich Village, Hell's Kitchen, Lower East Side, Morningside Heights, SoHo and TriBeCa.
    It is the hub of New York City and is connected by bridges to New Jersey and the other boroughs except Staten Island.
    Home to City College, NYU, Columbia, Barnard, Hunter and John Jay College.
    The Empire State Building and Wall Street Stock Exchange are located here.
    It has the most diverse population in the world. People of almost every nationality live on this island.
    It is the most densely populated county in the United States. Almost 67,000 people per square mile.
    Broadway is home to one of the world's finest theater districts.
