Why she might be annoying:

At age six, she made her first hat by cutting up one of her mother's blouses.
She dropped out of school at age 14.
She wore leopard-skin slippers with attached bells.
She did ads for Camel and Lucky Strike cigarettes.
Ironically, she rarely wore hats after retiring as a designer, preferring wigs instead.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was married to Jean Despres for 57 years.
She was mentioned in the lyrics of the Jimmy Dorsey hit 'Tangerine.'
Halston got his start working for her.
Loretta Young was such a big fan that when Dache retired (1968), Young bought out her remaining inventory of thirty hats.
She said, 'I have followed my own recipe for happiness: to do what you love, with people you love, in the place you love. That's all.'
