The Resume

Why Laverne and Shirley might be annoying:

Two single girls living together, and they're not lesbians? Bullshit!
The opening theme even implies they should be lesbians, with the line 'there's nothing we won't try.'
It was wrought with backstage politics and feuding.
Cindy Williams left the set for two days in protest of Penny Marshall hogging all the good lines (1976).
David L. Lander and Michael McKean wrote themselves into the show as Lenny and Squiggy.
Lenny and Squiggy would always irritate the hell out of Laverne and Shirley, but they never bothered to lock their doors to prevent their visits.
During a particularly implausible part of the show, all of the characters moved from Milwaukee to Los Angeles (1980).
The writing staff re-wrote scripts from an unsuccessful sitcom called 'Hey, Landlord' and used them.
They modified the vacant 'Odd Couple' set in order to create Laverne and Shirley's apartment.
Even though Cindy Williams left the show during its last season, the show was still called 'Laverne and Shirley' (1988).
Laverne's favorite beverage was milk and Pepsi.

Why Laverne and Shirley might not be annoying:

It was a spin-off of 'Happy Days.'
They featured characters who were independent 1950s ladies that weren't rushing to get married and have kids.
The opening theme, along with the silly hopscotch chant, had been parodied many times.
It reached #1 in the Nielsen ratings.
Henry Winkler made guest appearances as the Fonz.
