The Resume

    (November 25, 1946- )
    Born in Erie, Pennsylvania
Author and illustrator of the 'Arthur' series of children's books
Executive producer of the PBS animated adaptation of 'Arthur'

Why he might be annoying:

He said he started illustrating and writing children's books because 'I lost all my other jobs,' including truck driver ('I kept getting lost') and college professor ('[The school] had been in business for 106 years, and when I started teaching there, it closed').
Arthur is ostensibly an aardvark, but -- except in the first book -- he lacks an aardvark's snout. ('The more I drew Arthur, the shorter his nose became. I guess I just wanted to make him friendlier looking.')
He hid the names of his two sons, Tolon and Tucker, in each Arthur book, except the first one.

Why he might not be annoying:

The first Arthur book developed from a bedtime story he told his son Tolon.
The Arthur series has sold over 65 million books.
He won three Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Animated Children's Series (1999. 2001-02).
He said about the inclusion of a same-sex wedding in the 'Arthur' TV series (2019), 'Art reflects life. And I think kids need to see what's happening in the world.'
