    Had a singing program on NBC radio

Why she might be annoying:

    She was only 4'10 tall and weighed under 100 pounds.
    She had a squeaky voice.
    She tried to voice other characters, but was told by producers that her voice was too distinctive to do anyone but Betty Boop.
    She later became an ordained minister in the 'New Thought' Unity Church.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She was chosen to be Betty Boop in a contest judged by Helen Kane, the singer who had inspired the creation of the character.
    She appeared in vaudeville with artist Pauline Comanor, who would draw her as she posed as Betty Boop.
    She entertained at military hospitals during WWII.
    She ran a school teaching singing, dancing and elocution; her most famous pupil was actress Carroll Baker.
