    He didn't return to the majors until three years after he made his initial debut.
    He earned the nickname 'Sheets', due to the fact he organized pools amongst the players in the clubhouse.
    His hitting skills were considered non-existent by baseball pundits.
    Despite leading the NL in wins, he was passed over for the 1993 Cy Young Award.
    He bounced around the majors, following his departure from the Giants.
    He failed to earn a roster spot with the lowly Tampa Bay Devil Rays (2000).

    He is an avid bowler, and has participated in various bowling tournaments during his baseball career, as well as in his retirement.
    He posted a 22-7 record, along with a 3.65 ERA, during the 1993 season.
    He recorded the first postseason victory in the history of the Washington Senators/Texas Rangers franchise (1996).
    He proved baseball pundits wrong, when he revitalized his career after being acquired by the Braves.
    He was inducted to the San Francisco Giants Wall of Fame, for his contributions to the franchise (2008).
